![]() Setting everything up from scratch again would be a lot of work, so I'm reluctant to do it without knowing whether the problem is in my system or is a basic incompatibility between Mojave and ios 16. I've already done a restore and I have no idea if setting it up as a new iPhone will help with my basic problem. This means I can't access music that's in my iTunes library but was originally from CDs rather than downloads from the Apple Store. Apple today released an iTunes 12.12.6 update for windows, with the software adding support for the new iPad Pro and iPad and addressing security vulnerabilities. It does not offer me the opportunity to backup or sync or even see what is on my device. ![]() ![]() The problem now is that when I plug it in via USB, iTunes will not recognize my phone-it thinks it's a new device-and the only options it will offer are to either restore from my January backup (which I already did) or set it up as a new phone. Something went wonky during the process and I had to restore from a backup, which worked. I recently installed ios16 on my iphone 8 plus. Last version to support Windows XP RTM and. Can't get itunes 12.9 and iphone 8 with ios 16 to work together I am using an older iMac with Mojave installed (10.14.6) so device backups and syncs must be done using iTunes.
